In between soliloquies about Jeep’s new release, the company’s President, Mike Manley has finally confirmed the mumbling rumor that a pickup version will soon grace the streets. It has been long since the company made new releases in spite its high acceptance and being received with positive reactions. Jeep are finally moving forward to fulfilling their customer’s ecstasies with its long awaited Wrangler. The mothballed Jeep which is to officially launch in 2016 is said to have adopted a new design among several other changes.
So what’s with this 2016 Jeep Wrangler pickup that teases other Wranglers sideways?
Fist off, the appearance hasn’t change much but there are several notable improvements and styling that has been adopted with this design. Like the previous version releases, the 2016 concept truck will still come in two and four door options. Notable changes with the new release includes the use of a lighter aluminum among other materials that makes the 2016 Jeep Wrangler pickup lighter. Both the interior and exterior will also undergo some touches. The dashboard is expected to have a fresh fender design that brings better capabilities on board. The appearance unlike the previous releases is anticipated to come with a wide range of colors to suit a wide variety of users.
The longer and lighter pickup truck is also said to have augmented powertrain options that allows it to consume less fuel yet emanating higher performance than its predecessors. 2016 Jeep Wrangler pickup will also come with a diesel variant model which is a big move especially towards economic fuel consumption. Its engine is said to be of 240 horse power and revving high to a maximum torque of 420 lb-ft. These improvements which guarantees better performance is perhaps the new release’s peak.
The anticipated 2016 Jeep Wrangler pickup is also said to have a different suspension system which unlike the previous versions doesn’t use any solid axles. It will instead use a new air suspension system. Jeep has been using the axle system ever since and this is a new dawn yet to go on road-test. Although experts have questioned the 2016 Jeep’s off-road performance due to this, the company maintains that it is all under control and it is nothing to worry of.
From a mechanical engineer’s perspective, coming up with an elemental truck like this with augmented performance and outstanding marque yet able to maintain its weight at a par isn’t easy but clearly. Jeep has got it spot on. It is expected to rival the likes of the indomitable Toyota Tracoma who have for long dominated the chunk in the industry.
