VW Touran 2015 Release date, review and price

VW Touran 2015 model will come with significant alterations. Change which occupies the most attention is related to platform switch which is big news for this great MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle). Current generation of Touran uses Golf 5’s PQ35 platform, and it is one of rear vehicles from Volkswagen’s line-up that uses this platform. However 2015 model year will bring changes and new Touran will be built on a MQB platform, which will bring several improvements.

New platform will bring significant weight reduction, by up to 220 lbs. However, although VW Touran 2015 is lighter than its predecessor, it will be slightly bigger. The dimension and weight changes will pull other conveniences as well, such as more interior space, and better fuel economy. Touran MPV was spotted on the streets near Nurburgring, covered with heavy camouflage. Based on these spy shots, some Touran changes on exterior are visible.

Boxy body shape of the popular MPV will stay, although German producer will add more edginess to its appearance. More aggressive outside and more functional interior is what we can expect from Volkswagen Touran 2015. Shorter overhangs and longer wheelbase are also visible on the latest Touran, which indicates that it will probably be offered with optional third row seating. It will also have LED lighting, and VW’s Bluemotion technology which will help it to reduce fuel consumption.

VW Touran 2015 performance will benefit from Golf 7’s engines. However, new pltfrom means that Touran will be built with front-wheel drive system as standard, while all-wheel drive will be avaialbel as optional.

Although we can’t claim for sure which engines will be used for upcoming Touran, for 2015 model year it will offer DSG twin-clutch transmissions. When it comes to powertrains, new Touran will have variety of petrol and diesel units available. Base engine should be a 1.2 TSI with 110 horsepower, while 1.4 TSI with 150 horsepower will be available as more powerful version. Diesel units include 1.6-liter TDI and 2.0 TDI.

Volkswagen Touran 2015 will probably be available in hybrid variant, as well as with natural gas engines, but since German producer keeps these things secret, we will have detailed info after its release.

2015 Volkswagen Touran competes with some strong rivals in its category, which include Renault Scenic, Ford C-MAX, and Vauxhall Zafira. However, 2015 model could bring some advantage for Touran, since VW’s MPV gained a lot of upgrades. The release of the model is expected in next couple of months, during the first quarter of 2015, while there is no any precise info about exact date. Starting price of the model is expected to be around $32,000.
